I came across her early one morning
One of those beautiful winter meets spring days
The grass, frost coated and erect
Like battalions of tiny spears.
She lay, this harbinger of the Goddess
Her body quivering every nerve a twitch
Every muscle poised to take flight.
I gentled this wild thing with my thoughts
Assuring her of my harmless intent,
When wonders of wonders a miracle occurred
Her mind was laid bare to mine
And I partook of her thoughts and dreams
Of summers coming, and the young she would bare
And her nightly flights to the moon.
